Matunuck -- Back by popular demand, Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show is on the stage at Theatre By The Sea for four days only!
A simple set plus interactions between the actors and the on-stage three-piece band (conducted by piano player Theodis Rodgers) gives audiences a feeling of being back in the ‘60s, enjoying a live Las Vegas performance by the legends Frank Sinatra, Sammie Davis Jr., Dean Martin, and Joey Bishop themselves.
Danny Grewen has been honing his performance of Sinatra since childhood, and been playing him on stage since 2005. Audiences will be hard-pressed not to think it was Frank Sinatra himself on stage when Grewen belts out songs such as “Come Fly With Me”, “The Best Is Yet To Come”, and “Fly Me To The Moon."
Louie Velez's portrayal of Sammie Davis Jr. is absolutely incredible and it's no wonder; he has been honing his performance as Davis Jr. on stage since 1987. Velez not only sounds like Davis Jr. while singing and talking, but his movements and mannerisms eerily echo those of the late great performer himself.
Tom Wallek's Dean Martin is very funny, and his scenes with the other actors bring a lot of laughs to the production. Audiences are sure to laugh at his show-stopping jokes, and sing along with Wallek on well-known favorite songs “That’s Amore” and “Volare.”
Show producer Sandy Hackett is hilarious as Rat Pack comedian Joey Bishop, able to deliver the show’s jokes with a perfect deadpan expression.
During the show, the actors interact with audience members, and audience participation is encouraged. After the show, the actors remain in character while mingling with patrons at the merchandise table.
Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show is playing at Theatre By The Sea through September 14th. For tickets, showtimes, and more information, visit www.theatrebythesea.biz or call the box office at 401-782-8587.
