Tell Me More! -- Grease Opens at Theatre By The Sea

Matunuck R.I. -- Theatre By the Sea has opened the fan-favorite musical Grease this weekend to a sold-out audience.

Cast of Grease perform "Tell Me More": Zach Trimmer as Danny with the T-Birds (left), and Becca Andrews as Sandy with the Pink Ladies (right)

Impressive set pieces bring the show to life while cleverly representing the overall feel of nostalgia for not only the '50s but high school memories. Each backdrop is contained in the pages of the oversized school books and yearbooks which make up the initial "bookshelf" set.

Kevin P. Hill's choreography for big dance numbers such as "Greased Lightnin'" and "Hand Jive" were particularly impressive.

Zach Trimmer as Danny captivated the audience with his smooth moves and great voice. Theatre By The Sea patrons may recall Trimmer as Jean-Michel in La Cage Aux Folles and Link in Hairspray. Becca Andrews' portrayal of Sandy was sweet, and she wowed audiences with her strong vocals on "Hopelessly Devoted To You".

Aaron Fried (Roger a.k.a. Rump) got the biggest laughs with MiMi Scardulla (Jan) during their rendition of "Mooning". These two stole the show in every scene they were in together.

The entire cast was impressive, both with the dance and vocal performance. Most importantly, the show did not relying on emulatating the famous movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Cast members made the characters their own, and brought each number to life.

Audience favorites included the "Hand Jive", "Beauty School Dropout", and "You're the One That I Want".

Grease will be playing at Theatre By The Sea through July 19th. For tickets, showtimes, and more information, visit www.theatrebythesea.biz or call the box office at 401-782-8587.
